Burntwood and the surrounding villages

A town built in phases, with the glazing to match

Burntwood grew out of the villages of Chasetown, Chase Terrace, Boney Hay and Highfields, and much of what you see today went up in waves through the middle and later part of the twentieth century. That gives the town a fairly consistent housing stock: semis and detached houses of a similar age, on similar plots, with similar problems arriving at roughly the same time.

The practical consequence is that Burntwood streets tend to come to us in clusters. One house replaces failed units and a tired front door, the neighbours see the vans and the finished job, and we end up quoting three or four properties along the same road. That is how a local installer should work: word of mouth, visible work, no leaflets.

Because so much Burntwood housing was built with generous rear gardens, conservatories are everywhere here. Most were added in the 1990s and 2000s with polycarbonate or glass roofs, and most are now used as storage because the room is unbearable in summer and freezing in winter. Replacing that roof with a tiled warm roof is the single most common enquiry we take from the town.

We have been doing this since January 2015 with a team of eight, each with 20 to 25 or more years on the tools. The warm roofs are built by us as a Eurocell approved tile installer.

Burntwood sits just west of Lichfield on the edge of Cannock Chase, about a twenty-minute run from our Tamworth base through Lichfield. It is a regular part of our working area, and quotes come back the next working day after survey.

Chasetown and Chase Terrace

Older village cores with mixed housing ages, including former mining-era properties where openings are rarely standard sizes.

Post-war and 1960s–70s estates

Large runs of semis and detached houses where the original glazing has now been replaced once and is due again.

Boney Hay and Highfields

Later development with builder-standard doors and windows that have reached the end of their working life.

Conservatories on the rear

Very high concentration across the town, and the main source of our warm roof and conservatory roof replacement work in Burntwood.

Why Burntwood calls us

A local firm, not a national sales operation

Burntwood is inside our normal working area

It is a short run west from Tamworth through Lichfield. Surveys are booked into the ordinary week, not squeezed in as a favour.

We build our own warm roofs

As a Eurocell approved tile installer we do not sub-contract the roof. One team, one point of responsibility, no handover between trades.

Next working day quotes

You get a clear, fixed written price the working day after we survey, not a fortnight of chasing.

Fixed price, honestly held

We have never added money to a job once it has started. The quote is the price.

Sign-written vans and uniforms

You know who is at your door in Burntwood, and so do your neighbours.

Guaranteed and insured

10-year IWA insurance-backed guarantee, Assured registered, £10,000,000 public liability insurance.

Local property, local problems

The faults Burntwood houses keep bringing us

Burntwood's housing stock is fairly uniform in age, so the problems arrive in patterns. These are the ones we see most across the town and its villages.

Second-generation glazing failing

Plenty of Burntwood houses were re-glazed twenty-odd years ago. Those units are now misting, the gaskets have gone hard and the hinges are stiff or seized.

Conservatories used as sheds

Polycarbonate roofs discolour, leak at the bars and offer almost no insulation. The room stops being a room. A tiled warm roof brings it back inside the thermal envelope of the house.

Exposure to Cannock Chase weather

Sitting on the edge of the Chase, Burntwood catches wind-driven rain from the west. Poorly sealed frames and worn cills show it quickly on exposed elevations.

Non-standard openings in older village property

In the older parts of Chasetown and Chase Terrace, openings are rarely a catalogue size. They need measuring and making to fit, not forcing a stock frame into the gap.

Front doors that no longer lock cleanly

Builder-fitted doors on the estates have taken decades of use. Once you are lifting the handle to get the lock to engage, the frame usually needs attention too.

Heat going straight out of the glass

Older units and worn seals make rooms expensive to heat. Modern units in a properly packed and sealed frame make an immediate, noticeable difference.

Our process

Five steps, the same on every job in Burntwood

Step 1

Free verbal quote

Call or send the form and we talk the job through. A verbal quote costs nothing. A written quote is £25, deducted from your invoice if you go ahead.

Step 2

Survey at your house

We come out, measure properly and look at the existing openings, lintels and cills rather than guessing from a doorstep glance.

Step 3

Fixed price, next day

Your price comes back the next working day. It is fixed. We have never added money to a job once it has started.

Step 4

Manufacture and fit

Frames are made in Eurocell, Rehau or Smarts profile, then fitted by our own team of eight in sign-written vans and full uniform.

Step 5

Guarantee registered

The installation is registered for a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee through IWA, covering the workmanship and the frames.
