Draycote Windows is a Tamworth business. That is not a marketing line about a 'local' company with a call centre two counties away, Gary and the team are based here, the vans are parked here, and a large share of the work we have done since January 2015 has been within a few miles of the yard.
Tamworth's housing stock is dominated by the town's twentieth-century expansion. Glascote, Wilnecote, Amington, Belgrave, Stonydelph and Bolehall carry big runs of estate housing from the 1950s through the 1970s, much of it now on its second generation of glazing. Around the town centre and out towards Dosthill and Mile Oak the picture is more mixed, with older property and newer infill development alongside each other.
The estates in particular tend to hit the same problems at the same time: sealed units that have gone, doors that need lifting to lock, and conservatories from the 1990s and 2000s that nobody uses any more. We have replaced enough of them locally to know what is behind the frame before we take it out.
