Shenstone and the surrounding villages

A village where almost nothing is a catalogue size

Shenstone has grown around an old village core, with later development at Shenstone Woodend and along the roads out towards Stonnall and Little Aston. The result is a housing stock with a very wide age range in a small area: older village property with thick walls and deep reveals sitting a few hundred yards from twentieth-century and modern housing.

For a window company that works from a stock list, this is awkward ground. For us it is normal. We measure every opening on site, we look at what is above and below the frame, and the frames are made to suit the aperture. On older Shenstone property that is not optional, a stock frame packed out with foam will move, draw damp and look wrong on a period elevation.

The village also has a conservation area covering part of the historic core, and some individual properties are listed. Where that applies, the council may have a view on what can go in. We flag it at survey so you can confirm the position with Lichfield District Council before anything is ordered rather than after.

Everything is fitted by our own team of eight, each with 20 to 25 or more years of experience, working in Eurocell and premium Rehau UPVC and Smarts aluminium. Warm roofs we build ourselves as a Eurocell approved tile installer, so the whole job stays with one firm.

Shenstone sits between Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield, a short run from our Tamworth base along the A5127. It is comfortably inside our normal working area and surveys are booked into the ordinary week.

The old village core

Thick walls, deep reveals and period detailing where the look of the frame matters as much as its performance.

Shenstone Woodend

Later housing with original or first-replacement glazing now reaching the end of its working life.

Rural and edge-of-village property

Exposed positions and larger plots, often with outbuildings, garden rooms and conservatories attached.

Conservation area and listed property

We tell you honestly at survey where local authority consent is likely to be a factor.

Why Shenstone calls us

A local firm, not a national sales operation

Everything is measured on site

Shenstone openings vary house by house. We survey the reveal, lintel and cill before pricing, which is the only way to get an older property right.

Honest about consent

If your property is in the conservation area or listed, we raise it at survey rather than letting you find out later.

Fixed price, quoted next working day

Free verbal quote, or £25 for a written quote which is deducted from your final invoice.

One team throughout

A team of eight with 20 to 25+ years each, in uniform and sign-written vans.

Approved products

Eurocell and premium Rehau UPVC, Smarts aluminium, and Eurocell approved tile installer status for warm roofs.

Ten-year guarantee

IWA insurance-backed guarantee on workmanship and frames. Assured registered, £10,000,000 public liability.

Local property, local problems

The problems Shenstone property throws up

A village with this much variety in building age produces a broad set of faults. These are the ones we deal with most often here.

Deep reveals and irregular openings

Older Shenstone property rarely has square, standard openings. Fitting a stock frame and filling the difference is how damp and draughts start.

Frames that must suit the elevation

On period property the wrong profile or sightline is immediately obvious from the road, whatever the thermal figures say.

Exposure on the village edge

Open, rural positions catch wind-driven rain. Sealing and packing quality decides whether that becomes a damp patch or not.

Cold conservatories on large plots

Generous gardens mean plenty of conservatories, and the glazed and polycarbonate roofs on them make the rooms unusable for much of the year.

Ageing timber and early UPVC

A mixture of rotten timber frames and brittle early UPVC that has yellowed and lost its gaskets.

Previous work done cheaply

Unpacked frames, poorly scribed trims and silicone used as a filler. We would rather replace it properly once.

Our process

Five steps, the same on every job in Shenstone

Step 1

Free verbal quote

Call or send the form and we talk the job through. A verbal quote costs nothing. A written quote is £25, deducted from your invoice if you go ahead.

Step 2

Survey at your house

We come out, measure properly and look at the existing openings, lintels and cills rather than guessing from a doorstep glance.

Step 3

Fixed price, next day

Your price comes back the next working day. It is fixed. We have never added money to a job once it has started.

Step 4

Manufacture and fit

Frames are made in Eurocell, Rehau or Smarts profile, then fitted by our own team of eight in sign-written vans and full uniform.

Step 5

Guarantee registered

The installation is registered for a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee through IWA, covering the workmanship and the frames.

Questions from Shenstone

Shenstone: straight answers

Yes. Shenstone and Shenstone Woodend are part of our regular working area, alongside Lichfield, Burntwood, Rugeley, Fradley, Tamworth, Sutton Coldfield, Little Aston and Armitage plus the surrounding villages.
How fast can you get to Shenstone?
It is a short run from Tamworth along the A5127 between Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield, so surveys are booked into the normal week. Your written quote follows the next working day.
What will it cost in Shenstone?
Price depends on the job, not the village. A verbal quote is free; a written quote is £25 and comes off your final invoice if you go ahead.
Do you offer emergency call-outs in Shenstone?
We are an installation company, not a 24-hour emergency service. Call 07597 125590 during our hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm.
My property is old and the openings are not standard sizes, is that a problem?
No. Everything we fit is measured on site and made to suit the opening. That is the normal situation in a village like Shenstone.
What if my house is listed or in the conservation area?
The council may have a view on what can be installed. We raise it at survey so you can confirm the position with Lichfield District Council before anything is ordered.
What guarantee comes with the work?
A 10-year insurance-backed guarantee through IWA covering the workmanship and the frames. We are Assured registered and carry £10,000,000 public liability insurance.
What are your lead times?
A minimum of 10 weeks from order, longer at busier times. We give you the honest timescale before you commit.
How do I pay?
Cash or bank transfer. No credit cards and no finance. Deposits vary with the size and type of job.
Do you take on commercial work near Shenstone?
Yes, we handle commercial glazing and door installations as well as domestic work.
