The service
A tiled warm roof replaces a glazed or polycarbonate roof with an insulated, tiled structure. The insulation sits within the roof build-up so the room below stays inside the thermal envelope of the house instead of sitting outside it behind a sheet of plastic.
The result is a room that behaves like the rest of the house: it holds heat in winter, it does not overheat in summer, and rain on the roof stops sounding like applause. Internally you get a plastered, finished ceiling rather than a view of dirty roof panels.
We are a Eurocell approved tile installer and we build our own tiled warm roofs rather than sub-contracting them out. That matters, because a warm roof is a structural, roofing and finishing job all at once and the handovers between trades are where problems normally start. A Warmer Roof system is also available on request.
The classic case: too hot in summer, too cold in winter, so the room becomes storage. A warm roof puts it back into use.
Discoloured, noisy, leaking at the bars and offering almost no insulation.
Better than polycarbonate, still a huge heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter compared with a tiled warm roof.
Where a solid, insulated, tiled roof is the right specification from the start.
What it costs to leave it
Most people do not lose a conservatory overnight. They lose it gradually, one summer it is too hot to sit in, one winter the radiator cannot keep up, and by the following year it holds the bikes and the Christmas decorations. That is a whole room of your house taken out of service.
Unusable in high summer, unusable in winter. You are heating, insuring and paying council tax on space you have stopped living in.
An uninsulated roof next to open patio doors or a poorly sealed divide drags warmth out of the adjoining rooms too.
Perished sealant at the glazing bars lets water in. Over time that stains the frames, damages flooring and rots any timber in the structure.
Our process
Step 1
We assess the existing roof, frames, base and load-bearing capability, and give you a free verbal quote on the spot.
Step 2
Roof structure, tile choice, insulation build-up and internal finish agreed in writing. Written quote is £25 and comes off your invoice.
Step 3
Materials ordered against a fixed price that never gets added to. Minimum 10 weeks from order, and we tell you the honest date.
Step 4
Old roof stripped, new insulated structure built and tiled by our own team as a Eurocell approved tile installer, then finished internally.
Step 5
We check the finished roof with you, clear the site, and register the work for the 10-year IWA insurance-backed guarantee.
What you get
Insulation in the roof build-up ends the summer-greenhouse and winter-fridge cycle in one job.
A tiled, insulated roof kills the drumming that makes a polycarbonate conservatory unusable during a downpour.
You stop pouring heat through the roof, so the space costs far less to keep at a comfortable temperature.
Tiles outside, a plastered ceiling inside. From the garden it reads as an extension rather than a bolt-on.
Structure, roofing and internal finish handled in-house, no sub-contractors passing the blame between them.
IWA insurance-backed cover, Assured registration and £10,000,000 public liability behind the work.
In detail
A warm roof is defined by where the insulation sits and how the structure carries it. These are the things we work through at survey.
A tiled roof weighs considerably more than polycarbonate. Before anything is quoted, we assess the existing frames, wall plate and base to establish what they can carry and what needs strengthening.
This is the step that gets skipped by people quoting cheap over the phone, and it is the step that decides whether the finished roof is sound in ten years.
The insulation sits within the roof structure so the room below is inside the building's thermal envelope. That is the difference between a warm roof and simply putting a solid lid on a cold room.
Ventilation within the build-up is part of the design. Get it wrong and you trap moisture in the roof itself.
As a Eurocell approved tile installer we work with the Eurocell system, and the tile profile and colour are chosen to sit correctly against the existing roof of the house.
External detailing (the abutment to the house wall, flashings and the eaves detail) is where warm roofs leak when they are done badly, so that is where the care goes.
Inside, you get a proper plastered and finished ceiling rather than exposed panels. That single change is what stops the space reading as a conservatory.
Options such as recessed lighting or roof windows to bring daylight back in are discussed at survey, before the structure is set.
The two overlap. If you are replacing a failing conservatory roof specifically, see our insulated conservatory roof replacement service, same team, same build-up, framed around that job.
If you are building new, or re-roofing an existing single-storey structure, tiled warm roof installation is the right heading.
Most warm roofs we build are domestic, on conservatories and single-storey rear rooms across Lichfield, Tamworth, Burntwood and the surrounding villages.
We also take on commercial work. We do not work on listed or heritage properties in either case.
