The service

A warm roof is a proper roof, insulated and built to stay

A tiled warm roof replaces a glazed or polycarbonate roof with an insulated, tiled structure. The insulation sits within the roof build-up so the room below stays inside the thermal envelope of the house instead of sitting outside it behind a sheet of plastic.

The result is a room that behaves like the rest of the house: it holds heat in winter, it does not overheat in summer, and rain on the roof stops sounding like applause. Internally you get a plastered, finished ceiling rather than a view of dirty roof panels.

We are a Eurocell approved tile installer and we build our own tiled warm roofs rather than sub-contracting them out. That matters, because a warm roof is a structural, roofing and finishing job all at once and the handovers between trades are where problems normally start. A Warmer Roof system is also available on request.

Conservatories nobody uses

The classic case: too hot in summer, too cold in winter, so the room becomes storage. A warm roof puts it back into use.

Polycarbonate roofs at end of life

Discoloured, noisy, leaking at the bars and offering almost no insulation.

Glass conservatory roofs

Better than polycarbonate, still a huge heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter compared with a tiled warm roof.

Extensions and new builds

Where a solid, insulated, tiled roof is the right specification from the start.

What it costs to leave it

An uninsulated roof turns a room you paid for into a room you avoid

Most people do not lose a conservatory overnight. They lose it gradually, one summer it is too hot to sit in, one winter the radiator cannot keep up, and by the following year it holds the bikes and the Christmas decorations. That is a whole room of your house taken out of service.

A room you cannot use for most of the year

Unusable in high summer, unusable in winter. You are heating, insuring and paying council tax on space you have stopped living in.

Heat pulled out of the rest of the house

An uninsulated roof next to open patio doors or a poorly sealed divide drags warmth out of the adjoining rooms too.

Leaks, staining and structural decay

Perished sealant at the glazing bars lets water in. Over time that stains the frames, damages flooring and rots any timber in the structure.

The mistakes we get called out to fix

  • Putting a heavy tiled roof onto a base and frame that were never checked for load
  • Insulating over the top of a failing structure instead of dealing with it
  • Skipping the internal plastered finish, which is where the room stops looking like a conservatory
  • Hiring separate trades who each blame the other when something leaks
  • Ignoring ventilation within the roof build-up
  • Accepting a quote that changes once the old roof comes off

Our process

Five steps, the same on every job we take on

Step 1

Inspection

We assess the existing roof, frames, base and load-bearing capability, and give you a free verbal quote on the spot.

Step 2

Survey and design

Roof structure, tile choice, insulation build-up and internal finish agreed in writing. Written quote is £25 and comes off your invoice.

Step 3

Fixed-price order

Materials ordered against a fixed price that never gets added to. Minimum 10 weeks from order, and we tell you the honest date.

Step 4

Build

Old roof stripped, new insulated structure built and tiled by our own team as a Eurocell approved tile installer, then finished internally.

Step 5

Completion and guarantee

We check the finished roof with you, clear the site, and register the work for the 10-year IWA insurance-backed guarantee.

What you get

The difference a properly fitted job makes

Usable twelve months a year

Insulation in the roof build-up ends the summer-greenhouse and winter-fridge cycle in one job.

Quieter in heavy rain

A tiled, insulated roof kills the drumming that makes a polycarbonate conservatory unusable during a downpour.

Lower running cost for that room

You stop pouring heat through the roof, so the space costs far less to keep at a comfortable temperature.

It looks like part of the house

Tiles outside, a plastered ceiling inside. From the garden it reads as an extension rather than a bolt-on.

One team, one accountability

Structure, roofing and internal finish handled in-house, no sub-contractors passing the blame between them.

Ten-year backed guarantee

IWA insurance-backed cover, Assured registration and £10,000,000 public liability behind the work.

In detail

Build-up, tiles and structural detail

A warm roof is defined by where the insulation sits and how the structure carries it. These are the things we work through at survey.

Structural assessment first

A tiled roof weighs considerably more than polycarbonate. Before anything is quoted, we assess the existing frames, wall plate and base to establish what they can carry and what needs strengthening.

This is the step that gets skipped by people quoting cheap over the phone, and it is the step that decides whether the finished roof is sound in ten years.

The insulated build-up

The insulation sits within the roof structure so the room below is inside the building's thermal envelope. That is the difference between a warm roof and simply putting a solid lid on a cold room.

Ventilation within the build-up is part of the design. Get it wrong and you trap moisture in the roof itself.

Tiles and external finish

As a Eurocell approved tile installer we work with the Eurocell system, and the tile profile and colour are chosen to sit correctly against the existing roof of the house.

External detailing (the abutment to the house wall, flashings and the eaves detail) is where warm roofs leak when they are done badly, so that is where the care goes.

Internal finish

Inside, you get a proper plastered and finished ceiling rather than exposed panels. That single change is what stops the space reading as a conservatory.

Options such as recessed lighting or roof windows to bring daylight back in are discussed at survey, before the structure is set.

Warm roof or conservatory roof replacement?

The two overlap. If you are replacing a failing conservatory roof specifically, see our insulated conservatory roof replacement service, same team, same build-up, framed around that job.

If you are building new, or re-roofing an existing single-storey structure, tiled warm roof installation is the right heading.

Domestic and commercial

Most warm roofs we build are domestic, on conservatories and single-storey rear rooms across Lichfield, Tamworth, Burntwood and the surrounding villages.

We also take on commercial work. We do not work on listed or heritage properties in either case.

Questions we get asked

Tiled Warm Roof Installation: straight answers

How much does a tiled warm roof cost?
It depends on the size and shape of the roof, what strengthening the existing structure needs, the tile specification and the internal finish. A verbal quote is free; a written quote is £25 and comes off your final invoice if you proceed.
How long does a warm roof take to build?
The build itself is measured in days rather than weeks for a typical conservatory-sized roof, and we will give you a firm programme at survey. Lead time from order is a minimum of 10 weeks.
Will my existing structure take a tiled roof?
That is exactly what we check before quoting. Frames, wall plate and base are assessed for load, and if strengthening is needed it is included in the fixed price rather than sprung on you later.
Is the room really usable in winter afterwards?
That is the point of the job. With insulation inside the roof build-up and a plastered ceiling below it, the space behaves like the rest of the house rather than like a greenhouse.
What guarantee comes with a warm roof?
A 10-year insurance-backed guarantee through IWA covering the workmanship. We are also Assured registered and carry £10,000,000 public liability insurance.
Are you certified to install these?
Yes: we are a Eurocell approved tile installer and we build our own tiled warm roofs in-house rather than sub-contracting them.
Will I lose all the daylight?
Not unless you want to. Roof windows and lighting are specified at survey so the room keeps daylight without keeping the heat loss.
Do you handle emergency roof leaks?
We are an installation business rather than an emergency repair service. Ring 07597 125590 during opening hours (Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, Saturday 10am to 2pm) and we will be straight with you.
Which areas do you build warm roofs in?
Lichfield, Burntwood, Rugeley, Fradley, Tamworth, Sutton Coldfield, Shenstone, Little Aston, Armitage and the surrounding Staffordshire villages.
How do I pay?
Cash or bank transfer. No credit cards and no finance. The deposit varies with the size and type of job.
