Damp, mould and ruined decoration
Cold frames and failed seals produce condensation on the reveal, then black mould in the corners, then perished plaster and peeling paint. Redecoration and replastering are rarely in anyone's window budget.

The service
Replacing windows is not just swapping glass. It is taking out the old frame without wrecking the reveal, checking the opening is square and sound, fitting a new frame that is packed and fixed correctly, sealing it inside and out so weather cannot track in, and leaving the room cleaner than we found it. Every one of those steps is where jobs go wrong, and every one of them is why we fit with our own team.
We supply and install UPVC windows in Eurocell profile and in premium Rehau profile, plus Smarts aluminium where you want slimmer sightlines and a stronger frame. All of it is double glazed. Gary spent years in fabrication and in the glass shop making sealed units before he ever picked up a fitting bag, so specification conversations here are practical rather than sales-led: you get told which profile suits the opening, the aspect and the budget, and why.
Draycote Windows has been fitting across south Staffordshire since January 2015. The team is eight strong including office staff, each with 20 to 25+ years in the trade, working in sign-written vans and full uniform. That matters on a window job more than most, because we are in and out of every room in your house for the duration.
If the sealed unit has blown, the glass is fogged and the insulating gas has gone. The frame may be salvageable; often it is not worth it on older units.
Hinges dropping, handles stiff, cold air across the sill. Once the frame has moved, adjustment only buys you a season.
Single glazing or early double glazing loses heat continuously. New units keep the warmth you have already paid for inside the room.
We take on both. Commercial glazing and door installations are quoted the same way: fixed price, honest lead time.
What it costs to leave it
Nobody replaces windows the week they start letting go. They get lived with. The problem is that a window is the barrier between a heated room and a Staffordshire winter, and once that barrier is compromised the damage moves inwards to things that cost far more to put right than the window did.
Cold frames and failed seals produce condensation on the reveal, then black mould in the corners, then perished plaster and peeling paint. Redecoration and replastering are rarely in anyone's window budget.
A misted unit has lost its insulating gas fill. It is a hole in your heating bill that reappears every single month until the unit is replaced.
Worn hinges, tired locking mechanisms and rotten timber sub-frames all reduce how hard a window is to force. Modern multi-point locking is a genuine step change.
Our process
Step 1
We come out, look at every opening, and tell you honestly what needs doing and what does not. A verbal quote at this stage is free.
Step 2
Openings are measured properly, squareness and lintel condition checked, and profile and glazing options agreed in writing. A written quote is £25, deducted from your invoice.
Step 3
Frames are made to your measurements. The price is fixed at this point and never added to. Plan on a minimum of 10 weeks from order.
Step 4
Our own fitters, in sign-written vans and uniform. Old frames out, new frames packed, fixed, sealed and tested on the day, and the room cleared up behind us.
Step 5
Every window is operated and adjusted with you present, then registered for the 10-year insurance-backed guarantee through IWA.
What you get
Modern sealed units with warm-edge performance keep heat in the room instead of in the glass. The difference is noticeable the first cold week.
Double glazing cuts road and neighbour noise considerably, which matters on the busier routes through Tamworth, Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield.
Multi-point locking, modern hardware and correctly fixed frames are far harder to force than tired hinges and worn keeps.
UPVC and aluminium do not rot, do not need repainting, and are back to new with a wipe. No annual maintenance cycle.
The figure you sign is the figure you pay. Gary has never added money to a job once it has started.

In detail
Long-term satisfaction with a window job comes from specification more than from brand names. Here is how we choose, in plain terms, and what the options actually change for you.
Eurocell is our standard UPVC system and covers the vast majority of domestic replacements. It is a well-supported profile with a wide range of finishes and consistent supply, which matters when you need a replacement sash or a matching frame years down the line.
We are also a Eurocell approved tile installer on the roofing side, so we work with the system across both parts of the business rather than treating windows and roofs as separate trades.
Where a customer wants the higher-specification option, we fit Rehau. It is a premium profile and we quote it as such. Typical reasons to step up: exposed elevations, larger openings where frame rigidity matters more, and homes where the windows are the main visual feature of the front.
We will tell you when the upgrade is worth the money on your particular property and when it genuinely is not.
Aluminium gives you slimmer sightlines and more glass for the same opening, plus the strength to support large panes. We fit Smarts aluminium windows, the same system family as our bi-fold doors, so a rear elevation can be matched properly across windows and doors.
Aluminium suits modern extensions, large picture windows and commercial frontages. On a traditional semi with small openings, UPVC is usually the better value.
Casement windows: the standard hinged opener, the most common replacement across Staffordshire housing stock. Tilt and turn for openings that need easy cleaning from inside. Bay and bow windows, which need particular care with load-bearing poles and the head detail. Fixed picture windows where the view matters more than ventilation. Top-opening and side-opening arrangements, specified room by room.
Trickle ventilation, obscure glazing to bathrooms, toughened glass where building regulations require it near doors and low levels, and fire-escape hinges to first-floor bedrooms are all specified at survey rather than argued about on fitting day.
On a house, the priorities are heat, noise, security and how the finished frames look from the street. Work is planned around your day, one or two rooms at a time where possible, and everything is cleared before we leave.
On commercial premises the priorities shift to access, hours and disruption. We handle commercial glazing and door installations and will phase the work so the premises stays usable. The quoting method does not change: fixed price, honest lead time, and the same guarantee.
We do not work on listed or heritage properties. It is specialist work with its own consent process, and we would rather say so up front than take a deposit and let you find out later.
We also do not offer finance and do not take credit cards. Payment is by cash or bank transfer, and the deposit varies with the size and type of job.
