Locking that no longer engages fully
If you have to pull the door towards you to throw the lock, the multi-point mechanism is not seating in its keeps. A door in that state is far easier to force.

The service
A door works harder than any window in the house. It gets slammed, leaned on, kicked shut with a bag of shopping in each hand and left open in the rain. It also has to seal completely when it closes and lock securely every time. Getting that from a UPVC door comes down to two things: a decent profile and a fitter who hangs it square and adjusts it properly before leaving.
We supply and install UPVC front doors, back doors and French doors in Eurocell profile and in premium Rehau profile. Glazing options, panel designs, colours, letterplates, handles and multi-point locking are all specified at survey so nothing is a surprise when the door arrives.
If you are after a solid composite front door rather than UPVC, that is a separate product we also fit, and if you want the whole back of the house opened up, look at aluminium bi-folds. We will tell you which of the three actually suits the opening you have.
Cold hallway, visible daylight at the edge, a lock you have to lift and lean on. Usually the frame or the hinges have moved.
The hardest-used door in most houses. Worth specifying properly rather than fitting the cheapest thing that fits the hole.
Two opening leaves, so alignment and locking matter more. A badly hung pair will bind within a year.
We take on commercial door installations as well as domestic, quoted on the same fixed-price basis.
What it costs to leave it
People put up with a difficult door for years. They learn the lift-and-shove, they wedge it in summer, they put a draught excluder against the bottom in winter. Meanwhile the actual fault gets worse, and the things it affects are heat, security and the condition of the floor and frame around it.
If you have to pull the door towards you to throw the lock, the multi-point mechanism is not seating in its keeps. A door in that state is far easier to force.
The hall and stairs act as a chimney for the whole house. A leaking front door pulls warm air out of every room connected to it.
A failed seal at the cill lets rain into the floor structure. On timber that means rot; on a screed it means a damp patch you cannot decorate over.
Our process
Step 1
We look at the existing door, frame, threshold and how the opening has moved. Free verbal quote on the spot.
Step 2
Exact sizes, opening direction, glazing, colour, hardware and lock specification agreed. Written quote is £25, deducted from your invoice.
Step 3
Your door is made to those measurements in Eurocell or Rehau profile. Price fixed at order, minimum 10-week lead time.
Step 4
Old door and frame out, new frame fixed square, sealed inside and out, door hung, locking adjusted and tested with you.
Step 5
You operate the door and the lock before we leave, and the installation is registered for the 10-year IWA insurance-backed guarantee.
What you get
Multi-point locking correctly aligned to its keeps, tested and adjusted on the day of fitting rather than left for you to live with.
Full-perimeter compression seals and a properly detailed threshold stop the constant draught through the busiest part of the house.
Correct cill and threshold detailing means rain runs away from the building instead of into the floor.
UPVC in Eurocell or Rehau profile holds its finish and cleans with soapy water. There is no annual maintenance job attached.
Free verbal quote, £25 written quote deducted from your invoice, and a price that never moves once work starts.
Insurance-backed guarantee through IWA on workmanship and frames, Assured registered, £10,000,000 public liability cover.
In detail
Every door we install is UPVC in either Eurocell or premium Rehau profile. Within that, the specification changes considerably depending on where the door sits and what it has to do.
The front door sets the appearance of the house and carries most of the security expectation. We specify multi-point locking as standard, and discuss glazing carefully, obscure or clear, how much of it, and whether toughened glass is required by building regulations at that position.
Colour and panel design are chosen at survey. If you want something heavier and more solid than UPVC, we fit composite front doors as a separate product and will happily compare the two honestly.
Back doors take the most abuse in the house: wet coats, dogs, bins, shopping. We tend to steer people towards a simpler, more robust panel arrangement and hardware that will survive it, rather than a delicate glazed design that will not.
Half-glazed and fully glazed backs are both available, with obscure glazing where the door faces a neighbouring property.
A pair of outward or inward opening leaves onto a garden or patio. Because both leaves move, the frame has to be dead square and the locking has to be set precisely, or one leaf will start to catch within months.
French doors suit openings where a bi-fold would be overkill or where you want a traditional look. For wider openings, aluminium bi-folds give you far more clear width when open.
Multi-point locking, cylinder specification, handles, hinges, letterplates and knockers are all part of the quote rather than an afterthought. Hardware finish is matched across the doors on the property so the front and back do not look like they came from different houses.
The frame fixing is what actually holds the door in place under force. Frames are packed and fixed into sound masonry, not foamed into a gap.
Domestic doors are fitted one at a time with the house left secure and weathertight at the end of every day, we never leave an opening overnight.
For commercial premises, entrance doors are specified for far higher traffic and we plan installation around trading hours where we can.
Lead time is a minimum of 10 weeks from order, longer at busier times of year, and we will tell you honestly before you commit.
We do not work on listed or heritage properties, we do not offer finance, and payment is by cash or bank transfer only.
